Introducing our new paediatric specialist, Fiona, Fiona was awarded a Membership in Paediatric Dentistry at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. She has spent many years teaching paediatric dentistry to support the development of future Children’s Dentists and Specialists and has a Masters in Education.

Fiona graduated with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery degree in 2004 at the University of Glasgow. After gaining experience in general practice and working in the community dental service for 6 years, Fiona undertook her specialist training in Paediatric Dentistry in Glasgow. She has been a registered specialist in this field since 2016 and has worked as a Specialist Paediatric Dental Officer within Ayrshire.

Fiona has exceptional skills in caring for anxious children and young people and is co-author of a textbook in providing dentistry for anxious children. She has also developed local guidelines for management of tooth injuries. Fiona has extensive experience in the provision of sedation as a means of facilitating treatment for dentally anxious children.
